- Wash and steam the potatoes. Peel the skin of the potatoes and mash it. Keep aside. Wash, steam and mash the green peas and add it to the potatoes. Chop the green bell pepper and add it to the potatoes. Keep aside.
- Cut the onions, tomatoes and green chillies and keep aside.
- In a Kadai, heat oil and butter together. Add the chopped garlic, ginger and green chillies and saute till the raw smell leaves.
- Add onions and saute till the onions are translucent.
- Add tomatoes and salt and cook till the tomatoes are soft and mushy. Mash it with a vegetable masher.
- Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and pav bhaji masala. Saute it well for a minute or two.
- Add little hot water till you get a desired consistency and let it come to a boil.
- Add steamed and mashed green peas and potatoes and mix well.
- Add green bell pepper and cook for sometime on low flame till it boils and oil appears at the surface. Off the flame.
- Serve Pav Bhaji with a dollop of butter, chopped onions, lemon juice and coriander leaves. Slit the pavs vertically. Add butter on a tava and when hot coat the pavs well on all sides with Butter and serve immediately.
