- Prepare 1.5 cup Wheat flour
- Make ready 2tsp Ghee
- Get 1 tsp Ajwain/ carom seeds
- Take as per taste Salt

- Make ready 1/4tsp Baking powder

- Get 1 cup sattu/ gram flour
- Make ready as required Few chopped coriander leaves

- Make ready 1 TSP onion seeds/ kalonji

- Take 1 spoon lemon juice
- Take 2full spoon mustard oil

Litti Chokha is a delicacy from the state of Bihar made with stuffed whole wheat dough balls with roasted chana dal and spices inside. These stuffed balls are known as Litties are usually roasted over. Litti Chokha is a traditional dish eaten mainly in Bihar and Jharkhad. It can be had for lunch, dinner or you can make it on your holidays and you will surely love it.
Instructions to make Litti with chokha:
- Firstly,in a large bowl take wheat flour,ajwain, ghee and baking powder…crumble and mix well…make sure that the ghee is combine well..
- Now add the water,as required..and knead the dough,….the dough should be smooth and soft…grease the dough with 1/2 tsp oil…cover and rest for 20 minutes
- In a bowl..take gram flour and mix all mentioned ingredients…the sattu stuffing mixture needs to be moist and not dry or too wet…keep it aside
- Now Divide the dough in equal size balls, press the edges and form a cup…further place a ball size sattu stuffing in the centre
- Start pleating the dough.. making sure that the stuffing bis secured well…pinch off excess dough and roll well…make your all balls like this
- Heat the appe pan with one TSP oil in each box..keep the flame low…place the rolled litti in appe pan.. cover and cook it for 10 minutes
- Flip over and cook other sides for 10 minutes…total time it will take to bake or cook is 20 minutes…flame (should be low from starting to end in cooking or baking process)
- Continue to cook until the litti turns golden brown from all the sides and also cooked from inside
- Finally,litti is ready to serve with choka and ghee
Litti is similar to Bati in appearance but. Litti, along with chokha, is a complete meal originated from the Indian state of Bihar. It is also popular in Jharkhand and parts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. This litti chokha recipe comes with step by step instructions so that you end up with the perfect dish.
