The ingredients needed to make Green Moong daal and Rice idlis:
- Prepare 1/2 cup moong daal (Split, moong chilka)
- Take 1/2 cup rice
- Prepare 1 grated carrot
- Take 1 small piece grated ginger
- Prepare to taste Salt
- Prepare Oil for greasing moulds
- Take 1 tsp eno
Drain the rice and green moong dal mixture and blend in a mixer using approx. ½ cup of water till smooth. Cool the rice and moong dal idli slightly, demould and serve immediately. Sabut moong dal khichdi is a simple one pot dish of whole green gram dal and rice. Khichdi is one of my favorite dishes not only for its simplicity but also because it is wholesome and nutritious.
Instructions to make Green Moong daal and Rice idlis:
- Wash and soak 1/2 cup of moong dal and 1/2 cup of rice for atleast 7 hours.
- Drain them and grind in a mixer using little water for idli batter consistency
- Pour batter in a bowl and add to it 1 grated carrot, 1 small piece grated ginger, salt to taste.
- Just before steaming, add 1teaspoon of eno fruit salt and mix gently.
- Put one teaspoon of batter in greased moulds and steam in a cooker for 10 mins.
- Check whether the idlis are cooked with the help of a knife. If it runs clear, switch off the gas.
- Take out the idlis and serve immediately.
