  2. Prepare 300 gm Paneer
  3. Prepare 1 big Onion (grind to a coarse paste)

  7. Make ready 2 small Tomatoes
  8. Make ready 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  9. Make ready 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder

  11. Take 1 pinch Garam Masala

Punjabi Style Matar Paneer Recipe: Cubed and fried paneer chunks, sauteed with peas, green chillies along with a host of spices, tomatoes and ginger garlic paste. Matar paneer is a classic vegetarian curry of Indian cheese and peas cooked in a tomato-based sauce. Frying the cheese until golden makes a big difference to the flavour and texture of the curry so don't. Matar paneer is a delicious curry made of paneer cubes and fresh peas cooked in a rich, spicy and tangy gravy.

Instructions to make Matar Paneer & Rice:
  1. Heat oil, add onion paste. Fry till it is light brown, add ginger garlic paste, fry with onion paste for 5 mins. Add tomato paste, add the dry masalas.
  2. Keep cooking till the masala leaves oil. Add the peas, fry for sometime. I prefer frying the masala in kadai, and then shift it to the pressure cooker after I put the peas. Add water, depending on the consistency you prefer. Take whistle till the peas are cooked. Add paneer, cook for 5 mins, or till just one whistle.
  3. You may add a dollop of fresh cream in the end.(optional) - Garnish with coriander. Serve hot with rice or parathas.
