  2. Saute the shallots till it becomes golden brown. Add turmeric powder, crushed red chilli and fry for a second.
  3. Add the grated coconut, mix it well and cook it for 15 seconds.
  4. Add the cheera or spinach to the coconut mixture and mix it properly. Cover and cook it in low flame for 5-6 minutes.
  5. Turn off the flame. Serve the thoran with rice.

Great side dish to any meal. Cover the coconut mixture completely with the spinach from the sides of the wok. Cheera Thoran is a tasty, healthy side dish common in Kerala.
