  1. Pressure cook the jackfruits with 1/2 cup water for 2-3 whistles.
  2. Melt jaggery by adding 1/2 cup water.once boiled filter this.
  3. Transfer the cooked jackfruits along with water to an Urali or big nonstick pan.cook till all the water dries up (often stirring)and the mixture looks soggy.
  4. Now add the melted jaggery to this & cook on medium heat often stirring sothat it doesn't burn.
  5. Once all water dries up add 1 tablespoons ghee/dalda/oil and cook.once the ghee is absorbed and the mixture doesn't turn smoothly while stirring,add another tbsps of ghee.
  6. Continue adding ghee & stirring till you get to the stage when a small portion is thrown to the wall  doesn't sticks to the wall but falls down.
  7. When you think it's almost done add the cardamom powder to this. Once done remove the mixture to a greased steel plate.smoothen the top with the back of a spoon.
  8. Once cooled cut the halwa into squares.
