Steps to make Nigerian Independence Cake:

  2. Firstly I blended my sugar for easy use
  3. Mix the Butter very well until Light
  4. Add the sugar and mix until light and fluffy then add the icing sugar and mix altogether
  5. Add in the eggs one at a time mixing after each addition
  6. Add the vanilla flavor and the Vegetable oil and mix
  7. Sift the flour and baking powder and divide into three
  8. Add one portion of the flour mixture followed by the Buttermilk
  9. Repeat the same procedure until you're finished
  10. Divide the Cake Batter into three then add green food color to the two portions and mix well
  11. Then pour in the batter into respective baking pans
  12. Then bake @ 180c in a pre-heated oven until toothpick inserted comes out clean
  13. Cool the Cakes on wire rack
  14. For the Buttercream frosting
  15. Mix butter in a separate bowl until very little then sift your sugar and add little by little until you're finished
  16. Add the banana flavor and milk and mix well until combined
  17. Divide the Buttercream into three and add green food color to one portion and mix well
  18. Decorate the cake.Draw the Nigerian map on top using green white green buttercream frosting and assemble your cakes into green white green when u wanna decorate them
  19. I fetch small amount of batter to make these Cupcakes but i don't advice you to use the batter for cupcakes Cuz when i did that my green layers cake were too small especially the lower green cake
  20. I used icing sugar in the cake recipe because i don't have Enough sugar at that time so i used icing sugar but i adviced you to use icing sugar because it makes my cake very soft.If i can upload the video you would have see what i mean
  21. Note :i used 8 inch Baking pan and i spread butter and floured my pan before i poured the batter into the pans to avoid sticking of the cakes after baking
