Instructions to make Jhatpat Besan ka Chilla:
- Take a bowl. Mix all ingredients in it except oil. Add 1/2 a cup water. Mix it well if batter looks thick then add little water. Mix it to make smooth flowing consistency in batter.
- Heat a pan or a Tawa on a low flame. Let the pan become little hot. Grease tawa with little oil. Take a spoon full of batter & pour on the pan. Gently spread the batter so that it does not break.
- Cook it on low flame till it till the top begins to look cooked. Spread some oil on all the sides. Turn it to cook from another side. Apply little oil on all the sides. Cook it till becomes little golden brown.
- Your hot besan chilla is ready. Can be served with tomato ketchup, sauce or chutney.
The only thing about this dosa is, it should be eaten hot as it does not taste good when cold. I love dosas especially instant dosa as it comes handy when we do not have. Besan ka chilla or in Punjab we call it namkeen puda/besan ka puda, is a crisp and savoury pancake. It is one of the most loved pancake in many North Indian families.
