Instructions to make Tayir Vada (South Indian style dahi vada):
  1. Wash the urad dal and soak it for 2 hours.
  2. Then keep the other ingredients ready
  3. Now grind the dal with very little water
  4. Now add the chopped onion, ginger and green chilli to the ground batter
  5. Then add crushed black pepper and salt to the batter and mix well.
  6. Then keep a Kadhai and heat it. Put oil and when hot make vadas and deep fry them till nice and crisp
  7. Now soak the vadas in water for 5 to 7 minutes. Then squeeze the vadas well and keep aside.
  8. Now take a bowl and beat the curd. Add milk sugar, salt to taste, chilli powder. Keep other ingredients ready.
  9. In a tadka pan put oil and when hot put mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves and dry red chilli. After it splutters turn off the gas.
  10. Now pour the Tadka over the curd. Mix well. Now put the soaked vadas in this curd and serve chilled. Garnish with grated carrots and chopped coriander leaves.Put some salted boondi on top. Serve immediately.
